THE LOWER DEPTHS

Russian writer and founder of Socialist Realism Maxim Gorky’s master play, The Lower Depths examines the outcasts of society, who live in the underworld, as they form their own system of living and surviving in a dog-eat-dog world. The play exposes a light at who really are the savages in oppressive governments and who are the heroes. The Lower Depths is not a traditional, plot driven play rather an examination of the human spirit.
